Open thread 005
Year-end thoughts, anticipation of 2023, book clubs + seminars + retreats (oh my!)
All,
It’s been a while: Substack has fallen to the backburner, though there’s no shortage of subjects to discuss or resources to share.
If you’re interested in attending the salon, or joining either the Exo Studies Explorer’s Group or Psychedelic Book Club, reach out on Twitter or via email. These are open, free groups for people to collaborate and discuss.
On January 12, 2023 at 8pm ET, I’m hosting an interintellect salon titled What We Talk About When We Talk About UFOS: From Tinfoil Hats to Flying Saucers, Carl Jung to DMT Entities
This is meant to be a “UFOs 101” informal seminar to discuss the transition of the subject from nuts-and-bolts towards a less-materialist, more-consciousness-based topic.
It’s great for people that are UFO-curious but otherwise have no experience or knowledge about anything in or around the community
Some thoughts on Goal Setting:
Rather than focusing on what I won’t be doing in 2023, instead, I’m emphasizing where my energy, time, and efforts will go. I’ll draft a list of yearly goals shortly, but loosely
Building my consulting business
Developing a creative voice through visible, public efforts
Commitment to learning through classes, curricula, and reading groups
Weekly open threads, biweekly/monthly longer-form writing on Substack
Continued commitment to spiritual and personal growth through retreats and exploration
In 2023, You’ll find me toiling away on a number of projects, including:
We Own the Night: The Legacy of Art Bell & Coast to Coast AM — A free multimedia project, including
An annotated bibliography of research and learning materials on Art Bell, his show, and the broader mid1990s online and conspiracy subcultures that he informed and shaped
Interviews with content creators and culture carriers influenced by Art’s work
A book (or collection of long-form essays) on Art Bell, written from my perspective: that is, focused on the cultural, social, and folkloric implications of his show, and the effects (some good, some not-so-good) we observe in today’s media landscape
The Exo Studies Explorer’s Group — A loose curriculum based on Sean Esbjorn-Hargens’ Exo Studies curriculum. Our first book is A Brief History of Everything by Ken Wilber
We will meet one hour/week to discuss Wilber’s book, among other resources. Day/date TBD, though we’ll start the week of January 16.
Psychedelic Book Club
Weekly on Tuesdays @ 9PM ET: We’re finishing Alien Information Theory by Andrew Gallimore, and then will begin The Varieties of Spiritual Experience: 21st Century Research & Perspectives by Dr. David Yaden
The Invisible Night School continues!
Wednesday @ 9PM ET join myself, Nick, Campbell, Luis, and whoever we’re interviewing - most recently, Jack Brewer joined us to discuss standards of evidence in Ufology
If you like what I’m doing, I’ve (reluctantly) setup a Ko-Fi. Any tips go directly towards platform and hosting fees, funding research tools, and otherwise offsetting my ability to host, run, and contribute freely to multiple initiatives.
Sending wishes for a happy holiday season, and a healthy and flourishing year ahead. I remain,
Very truly yours,
Leah (Prime)
